The footage was initially posted on TikTok on Saturday before being removed. It shows a baby girl who appears to be younger than 6 months. She is lying in bed, seemingly sleeping, when a person places a blanket over her face and holds it down. The individual continues applying pressure as the baby struggles beneath the covering. The clip ends without showing her condition afterwards. The face of the person carrying out the horrific act is not visible in the video.
After the video was shared online by @unknown_.1517, a concerned viewer reached out to the account holder through private messages to determine the infant’s condition. In response, the individual behind the account, seemingly a Jamaican, claimed that the baby was “ok”.
The viewer then requested proof that the baby was unharmed. In reply, a second video was shared, showing the same baby lying down asleep in a different outfit.
However, when the viewer asked if the individual was suffocating the child because they did not want her, the responses were vague. The alleged parent appeared to admit to the act in the private messages, but did not say if they no longer wanted to care for the baby.
When pressed about the reason behind the act, the individual claimed the inhumane act was done because the baby had been crying continuously. “Cause she did a cry straight none stop,” the person messaged. The explanation has only increased public concern.
