Dancehall enthusiasts are in for a historic moment with the release of DJ Khaled’s upcoming album, Alaam of God. The American music mogul sparked excitement among fans with the confirmation that his project includes an all-star collaboration with four of Jamaica’s most iconic figures: Vybz Kartel, Bounty Killer, Mavado, and Buju Banton.
The announcement was made on Tuesday via Khaled’s social media, where he also teased a major surprise guest feature that remains under wraps. The name of the highly anticipated track is yet to be unveiled.
Social media users have been expressing their joy, and the song is already generating buzz as potentially one of the biggest moments in dancehall’s recent history. DJ Khaled previously posted content showing the dancehall icons in his studio on separate occasions, igniting talks of a mega collaboration on his project.
Apart from adding all legends to the track, another significant reason why the upcoming track is monumental is the reunion of Vybz Kartel and Mavado. The two were longstanding rivals in the early 2000s, dominating dancehall with lyrical clashes. Their inclusion on a single song marks the first time in over two decades.
It has also been over 20 years since Bounty Killer, who significantly contributed to launching both their careers, hopped on a track with Vybz Kartel. The song No Doubt signals a powerful, unifying move within the genre.
Additionally, it will be the first-ever recorded collaboration between Kartel and Buju Banton, whom Kartel has praised as a major inspiration in his career.
DJ Khaled is known for collaborating with icons and creating major genre-blending hits. He brought Bounty Killer, Capleton, Sizzla, and Buju Banton together for Holy Mountain, which featured on his 2019 album Father of Asahd. He worked with the group again and included Skillibeng on TSKMN for his 2023 God Did album.
Khaled has not yet disclosed if the collaboration will be the only appearance for each artist on the album or if they will be featured on additional tracks.
