TikToker Annie has defended her decision to publicly expose her former partner Yankee, saying she felt compelled to speak out after weeks of criticism. In a live stream on Thursday, Annie maintained that her actions were a response to what she claims was ongoing disrespect and alleged false narratives being shared about her by Yankee.
Yankee, however, has denied spreading rumours about Annie after their breakup and has continued to reject several of her accusations. Along with claims that he sexually assaulted her near the end of their relationship, Annie also outlined what she described as a pattern of troubling experiences she allegedly endured.
Annie described Yankee as unsupportive and even called him a “wicked” person for how he treated her. She claimed that when she needed medical tests, including blood work and an ultrasound, he said he lacked funds to assist. Annie further alleged that money sent by his mother to help cover medical expenses was instead used by Yankee at parties, an incident she said left her feeling hurt and frustrated.
According to her, concerns about Yankee’s behaviour had previously been raised with members of his family. She said that after she discovered his double life, his relatives had encouraged her to keep such matters private.
However, Annie explained that her decision to remain silent became increasingly difficult as backlash mounted against her online due to the lies Yankee allegedly spread. She said she felt she was being criticised while “covering” for Yankee, which ultimately influenced her decision to speak publicly.
Framing her actions as a response to perceived disrespect, Annie stated that she chose to “match energy”, adding that if her name was being tarnished behind the scenes, she would no longer stay quiet. “Anything yuh deh pan mi deh pan, an eye fi an eye and a tooth fi a tooth,” Annie said during the broadcast.
Annie had said she was contacted by a man claiming to be Yankee’s ex. She said the man warned her he was using her and sent her the now viral explicit video of Yankee. She also said she found photos of his ex-girlfriend in his phone and evidence that he was into taboo bedroom activities. After the shocking revelation, a confrontation occurred at her home, which she said ended with her being sexually assaulted. All these incidents contributed to her asking Yankee to leave her home.
The TikToker added that she had been carrying emotional strain for some time but felt misunderstood after Yankee’s public comments suggested her reactions were tied primarily to pregnancy-related stress rather than broader relationship issues. Annie said this portrayal contributed to her decision to provide her own account of events.
