A social media influencer was gunned down by her estranged husband while she was on a date with another man in California. Her date was also fatally shot by her husband, who was later killed in an alleged police confrontation.
Gloria Zamora, a well-known fitness coach and influencer, was killed after she candidly spoke about her ongoing divorce. Her thousands of followers, who usually received content that encourages women to lead a fit lifestyle, were treated to a transparent interview about Zamora’s marital status.
The fitness Influencer discussed the struggles in her personal life just a week before the incident. On Saturday night, Zamora and her companion, Hector Garduno, were gunned down in the parking lot of a sushi restaurant in Fontana.
Authorities say the shooter was Zamora’s estranged husband, Thomas Alberto Tamayo Lizarraga, who somehow tracked her to the restaurant where she had been dining for about an hour.
Police reports reveal that multiple off-duty law enforcement officers were nearby and responded immediately after hearing gunshots. A San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputy was also in the area when he heard the explosions, prompting him to rush to the scene in his vehicle. When he saw the tragedy, he confronted Lizarraga and fatally shot him during an altercation.
Zamora, a mother of seven, was described by her daughter on a GoFundMe page as someone who uplifted others and was senselessly murdered by her stepfather. Garduno, the man she was with that night, has four daughters for whom his family is now seeking financial assistance through a GoFundMe page. He is described on the crowdfunding platform as a hard-working, devoted father.
The police investigation is still ongoing, and the name of the deputy involved in the shooting has not been released. According to a report, women are at their most vulnerable to domestic violence during the period when they are trying to leave or separate from an intimate partner, a time often marked by heightened emotions and escalating tensions.
