A pizza delivery driver was arrested after she allegedly stabbed a pregnant woman multiple times after receiving a small tip. The delivery driver, identified as 22-year-old Brianna Alvelo, was tipped $2 on an order she completed at a motel in Florida. The authorities say that she returned to the motel with a man, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, and viciously attacked the woman.
Alvelo is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, home invasion with a firearm, kidnapping, and aggravated assault, NBC News reported. NBC News cited an affidavit that said the incident occurred on Sunday when Alevlo delivered pizza at a motel in Kissimmee to a woman who was celebrating her 5-year-old daughter’s birthday. The motel room was occupied by the woman, her boyfriend, and her child.
Upon delivering the $33 pizza, Alvelo was asked to provide change for a $50 bill, which he did not have, the police said. This prompted the woman to search for smaller bills and gave Alvelo a $2 tip. According to the affidavit, the woman heard a loud knocking on the door sometime later. When she opened it, a man and a woman wearing black outfits and masks forced themselves inside the motel room.
The man was armed with a silver revolver, and the woman was carrying a pocket knife, which they both brandished after entering, per the affidavit. The armed man demanded that the woman’s boyfriend go into the bathroom, and the female perpetrator searched through the woman’s purse. The perpetrator, believed to be Alvelo, also broke the child’s Nintendo Switch, prompting the woman to shield her daughter. That was when the woman was struck in her lower back, the affidavit said.
After the attack, the woman reportedly threw her daughter on the bed and tried to get the phone, but Alvelo grabbed the phone and broke it. Alvelo allegedly began stabbing the woman repeatedly until the armed man yelled that it was time to go.
The woman was stabbed in her chest, arms, legs, and abdomen, equating to 14 stab wounds. The woman was transported to the hospital, where she learnt that she was pregnant while being treated.
A bond of $55,000 was set for Alvelo, who was in custody at the Osceola County Jail. The prosecutor, according to NBC News, requested that she remain in custody without bond during her appearance in court. The motel’s surveillance camera captured Alvelo carrying out the delivery in a red Toyota around 10 p.m., and a red Toyota returned more than an hour later with two people wearing masks. The manager of Marco’s Pizza, where Alvelo worked, confirmed her shift ended at 10:20 p.m. on Sunday, and she drives a red Toyota Camry.
