A shocking case of child abuse has come to light in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, after a tourist was caught on surveillance video assaulting his 2-year-old daughter. The incident took place on May 20, 2025, at the La Perla condominium located on Collins Avenue, where the family was staying during their vacation.
The man, identified as 37-year-old Andrei Sevastianov, was seen going out by the pool with his daughter. When she wandered too near the pool, he yanked her back. The child appeared to be crying and fussing when he eventually picked her up to leave.
As the video continues, he can be seen dropping his daughter from chest height. After the child fell to the ground, Sevastianov kicked her once. Later footage also showed him wrapping the girl in a towel and carrying her on his back as she appeared to struggle. Authorities were alerted to the abuse through an anonymous tip and moved quickly to arrest Sevastianov.
The 47-second clip also shows the Florida tourist being detained by officers. He was tackled to the ground and placed in handcuffs before police led him away. When questioned, he claimed his daughter had been “throwing a tantrum.”
The child was taken to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital for evaluation. Sevastianov is now facing charges of aggravated child abuse and resisting arrest.
The footage was shared on May 22, when it was posted to the social media platform X by the account The Facts Dude. The post did not mention the child’s mother.
“What a POS. That poor child,” one user wrote. “For him to do this public, I would hate to think of what happens behind closed doors.”Another added, “Poor girl, all of that was uncalled for.” Some expressed concern over the girl’s well-being and the possibility of other instances of abuse. “Imagine what else he may have done to her. She needs to be thoroughly examined,” one comment read.
