New footage has surfaced of an attempted assassination executed by a woman. The victim, a businessman identified as Juan Antonio Bautista López, narrowly escaped two attempts on his life. López was targeted twice in one day, and both times were caught on surveillance camera.
The assailant, whose identity has not been disclosed, opened fire on him in separate attacks, both caught on camera. The incidents took place in Mexico, where Bautista lived. During the first assassination attempt, he sat in his red pickup truck, parked on the side of the road.
Footage shows a woman approaching the vehicle, drawing a firearm, and firing multiple shots through the driver’s side window. Bautista opened his car door and returned gunfire. According to USA Crime, he was hit in the neck but managed to speed away from the scene, driving himself to the hospital.
Later that day Bautista encountered the same woman again. The woman was wearing different clothes and riding on a motorcycle with another man. A second gunfight broke out at an intersection after the motorcycle collided with Bautista’s truck. The woman fired at him again while her accomplice fled on foot.
Bautista returned fire, striking the woman in the neck, per the report. The video shows her collapsing on the road after the exchange, while Bautista rushed over to her. He remained at the scene until authorities arrived.
Bautista was initially detained following the incident, but he was later released after the shootings were deemed to be in self-defence. According to the report, the incidents occurred on October 29, 2024.
Bautista called on state prosecutors to continue investigating the attack as he believed there may be others behind the plot. The report says he is concerned for his safety, fearing more attempts could follow. He has urged authorities to uncover who might have ordered the hits.
