Footage of a recent school shooting in Florida shows the incident unfolding with one girl lying bloodied on the school campus. The disturbing video comprises a compilation of clips showing multiple scenes during the deadly shooting at Florida State University.
The incident, which occurred last Thursday, resulted in the death of two people while several others were injured. Reports state that at around noon, one of the students opened fire at other students.
The video shows a girl with blood smearing her clothes, lying motionless in one of the scenes. One of the clips, which circulated on social media, shows students hiding in a classroom with a teacher. A different clip shows a policewoman attending to a student lying on the ground, and a separate one shows officers swiftly moving in. Another scene shows other students running away as the shooter fires multiple shots.
The suspected shooter has been identified as 20-year-old Phoenix Ikner. He was initially hospitalised for injuries he sustained when officers opened fire on him. He has since been taken into custody and is facing criminal charges.
Officers who responded to an alert of an active shooter at the school allegedly shot Ikner when he refused to comply with commands. Reports say the suspect suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
According to reports, Ikner is the son of a Leon County sheriff’s deputy, Jessica Ikner. Leon County Sheriff Walt McNeil confirmed that the weapon involved in the shooting belonged to Ikner’s mother.
According to reports, six people, including students, were hospitalised with gunshot wounds. Another individual reportedly sustained minor injuries while attempting to flee the school compound. Two male university employees were killed in the incident.
Officials from Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare stated Monday that three of the six wounded victims have been released and two more were expected to be discharged later that day. While the names of the victims were not disclosed, one of the surviving victims, Madison Askins, described the terrifying incident from the hospital on Friday. Askins said she was shot and then had to play dead as the gunman walked past her.
