A Tennessee husband was arrested and charged with murder for allegedly fatally stabbing an 18-year-old boy after he caught him in bed with his wife. The husband, identified as 41-year-old Jonathan Belk, is accused of killing the teen and also stabbing his 31-year-old wife, Jada Gholston, multiple times after he came home last weekend.
The teen, Billy Jean Floyd, was murdered on Saturday morning, which was three days after he turned 18. Police discovered his body stuffed in a trash can in Gholston’s house, located in Dunlap. Authorities told New Channel 9 that Gholston was hospitalised with multiple stab wounds.
According to the New York Post, which cited the affidavit, the wife called the police and reported the incident. The affidavit said she initially told officers that a man pounced on her “boyfriend while they were in bed.”
When the police arrived at the scene, Belk was “standing in his doorway covered in blood.”
He reportedly had cuts on his hands. The police discovered at that point that he was the husband of the caller. He was also worried that the murder might ruin his marriage and reportedly told the investigators, “I am worried about my relationship with my wife due to the fact that I offed him.”
Blek remains in custody on criminal homicide-related charges. He has a bond hearing set for March 21.
According to Channel 9 News, Sequatchie County Sheriff Bill Phillips said that the murder “is an isolated incident to that home.” Phillips assured that “there’s no reason to believe anybody else is in danger.”
The victim who was stabbed to death was said to be a lover of hunting, based on an obituary. It detailed that 18-year-old Floyd, who also goes as “Lil Bill,” enjoyed “fishing, four wheelers, and working on everything.” It also shared that the teen’s favourite thing to do was to spend time with his family and friends.“
