Five people were reportedly killed during an armed attack at the Imperio nightclub in Durán, Ecuador, on the night of January 30. The incident took place at the well-known gentlemen’s club located in the Ferroviario sector of the canton and is now under investigation by the National Police.
In a report released by Radio Face TV Ecuador, it was stated that several armed men entered the nightclub carrying high-calibre weapons. The attackers reportedly moved directly to the VIP area of the establishment, where they opened fire on patrons. Unofficial information indicates that five men were killed in the shooting, while several others were injured. Authorities have not yet publicly confirmed the identities of the victims.
Footage of the aftermath inside the club shows bodies on sofas, beds, and on the floor. The incident has been described as one of the deadliest recent attacks on a nightlife establishment in the area.
According to Radio Face TV Ecuador, security camera footage from the Imperio nightclub reportedly captured two armed men arriving on a motorcycle before carrying out the attack. Preliminary information attributed to the National Police suggests that the victims were shot multiple times.
The shooting is not the first violent incident linked to the location. Reports indicate that in January 2025, a person was murdered outside the same nightclub, which was then known by another name. The report indicates that the area has been experiencing violent attacks on public venues, including nightclubs, bars, sports fields, and pool halls.
The vlogger shared that he commutes through Durán and expressed concerns about public safety in the area. He noted that, after the incident, police presence was increased in the area, and the authorities suggested that security conditions were improving in the region. However, he contested those claims, stating that residents and workers remain fearful and are uncertain about their safety.
The National Police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
