A man was gunned down in his vehicle, sparking a violent confrontation between armed men and the police, on Tuesday morning in Mandeville. The chain of events unfolded along Caledonia Road, where the victim, driving a Toyota Corolla, came under heavy gunfire around 7:30 a.m. According to a social media post by Glow Queen 876, around six shots were fired at the driver, causing the car to crash into a Toyota Prado close to BMull Auto’s entrance.
Graphic footage circulating online shows the driver slumped inside the vehicle, blood covering his body. The post reported that he sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body, with one visible in his hand.
His identity has not yet been released, but social media posts suggest he was known locally for selling eggs. The driver was pronounced dead after he was taken to Mandeville Regional Hospital.
Moon-10 understands that the alleged gunman was intercepted by police officers before they could escape. Before they could escape, an intense exchange of gunfire broke out, catching the attention of nearby residents. Witnesses recorded videos of heavily armed officers moving into the area where the suspects had taken cover inside an apartment building.
The standoff escalated quickly, with dozens of shots fired as the gunman refused to surrender. Bystanders, some visibly shaken, kept their distance but watched as the confrontation dragged on. One clip shows officers advancing cautiously while gunfire echoed through the neighbourhood.
Another video captured the aftermath of the crash, with crime scene tape cordoning off the wreckage of the Corolla as investigators combed the scene. Reports from news outlets indicate that the shootout is still ongoing, with Manchester Police Superintendent Carey Duncan leading the law enforcers. More officers have arrived on the scene and continue to fire at the gunman, who remains inside the apartment complex, shooting at officers outside.
