A suspect has been taken into custody by the Guyanese police following the near-fatal shooting of popular entertainer and social media personality Lolita Callendar, widely known as ‘Lola Doll’. The arrest was announced on Sunday, less than 24 hours after the 33-year-old was gunned down outside her home in Georgetown.
Investigators say the individual is being questioned and is assisting with the probe, according to the Jamaica Observer. Authorities have not yet released the suspect’s name or revealed a motive.
Callendar was ambushed just outside her Texas Circle residence in East Ruimveldt. Based on reports, she arrived at home in her white Mercedes-Benz shortly after 11 p.m., and a man on a motorcycle appeared to have been waiting nearby. Surveillance footage reviewed by investigators suggests the gunman approached her vehicle, fired several shots through the window, and sped away in the same direction.

According to reports, Callendar sustained multiple injuries to her neck, face, hands, and right leg. Her brothers, who were at home at the time, heard the gunfire and rushed outside. When they found her, she was bleeding heavily inside the car.
One of them described the scene, saying, “Her face, her side—there was just so much blood. But she’s a fighter.” Her brother expressed that with his focus solely on getting Callendar immediate medical help, he did try to locate the gunman.

They quickly transported her to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), where doctors have been working to stabilise her condition. She remains in critical care as medical staff prepare her for surgery.

Callendar is known for her bold music, flamboyant events, and outspoken online persona. Has built a large following in Guyana and beyond. Her shooting has sparked an outpouring of support across social media, with fans flooding timelines with messages of hope and strength.
