A popular influencer was killed by her husband just moments after he threatened her life during a Facebook Live broadcast. Zaria Khadejah Carr, better known online as Duchess Dior was shot dead after a heated altercation with her husband, who later committed suicide.
The 27-year-old had been live streaming with her husband, Shamarcus Carr, when the confrontation turned hostile at their home in Georgia on Jun 14. Viewers watched in disbelief on Saturday as 36-year-old Shamarcus accused Zaria of infidelity, who clapped back with accusations of him cheating as well.
He shouted over her attempts to speak, telling her to cease speaking while he spoke, and then made a chilling threat: “You’re going to make me kill you.”
At one point, Zaria, who shares two children with her husband, was laughing at him as she expressed that he was getting upset because she was exposing the truth.
Not long after the livestream ended, police received reports of a domestic disturbance around 9:30 p.m. When officers arrived at the couple’s residence in Twin City, they found Zaria unresponsive with gunshot wounds. Shamarcus, also known as ‘The Frenchman’, and the couple’s black Dodge Challenger were missing.
A statewide alert was issued, and Shamarcus was located just over an hour later in Wayne County. A brief police chase ensued, but before law enforcement could reach him, he turned the gun on himself inside the vehicle. He died shortly afterwards at a nearby hospital.
Zaria’s murder is being probed by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Meanwhile, local authorities in Wayne County are investigating Shamarcus’s suicide. Both autopsies are underway.
Zaria’s followers, many of whom witnessed the disturbing final moments of her life, have expressed heartbreak and outrage across social media. Her openness online about her personal life had drawn a loyal audience, but now, fans are reflecting on the tension they often witnessed in her videos with her husband. Zaria is known for sharing the highs and lows of motherhood and relationships.
