Dancehall artiste Intence continues to face criticism from Gaza fans for neglecting to mention Vybz Kartel as his favourite dancehall artiste. The Yahoo Boyz deejay first received criticism for naming Alkaline during a recent interview after the hostess asked him to share his favourite Jamaican dancehall artiste.
Although Intence mentioned that he could get backlash for choosing Alkaline, he maintained his answer. When a clip of the interview was shared online, the loyal fans of Vybz Kartel were not happy with his choice.
Intence was asked a similar question on Capital Xtra, the biggest hip-hop radio station in the United Kingdom. However, instead of being asked to name his favourite artiste, he was requested to list his top five musical legends.
“As the song of a selector, you must know about selecting, so who’s the top five musical legends for Intence,” the host asked.
In response, Intence named Shaba Ranks, Mavado, and Alkaline, and added “a few others.”
It is unclear if Vybz Kartel may have been one of the unnamed few, but since his name did not make the list, Gaza fans reacted negatively. When the clip was shared to Instagram, it led to more criticism and fuelled rumours that Vybz Kartel and Intence may not be on good terms.
One viewer wrote, “DEEP DUNG INNA HIM SOUL HIM WAH MENTION KARTEL MOVE YUH BLCT INTENSE ‼️”
Another said, “Kartel is him artiste. A cz him n kartel kick off ina covid era mek him naa seh kartel.. “
However, other Instagram users came to his defence. One user said, “Suh wah if eh mn nuh wah blct seh kartel hate uno Gaza fans essi. N doh @ mi @ yuh muma!”
“Me nuh understand when d awtis dem nuh call kartel name unu get hot ‼️ ani everybody look up to Addi to each his own cya cuss ppl cuz dem nuh mention kartel a wah d blutcla*t dis ,” another Instagram user wrote.
The public has speculated in the past that Intence took jabs at Vybz Kartel in some of his songs but the deejay has not addressed the rumours. Vybz Kartel has also remained quiet about whether or not they have an issue.
