Renowned rapper Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter is facing rape accusations in a lawsuit, alleging that he and Sean “Diddy” Combs sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl in the year 2000.
The lawsuit, filed on Sunday, claims that the minor was invited to Diddy’s 2000 MTV Video Music Awards afterparty and was transported there in a limousine. The invite came from the limousine driver, who indicated that she met Diddy’s preferences. The party was filled with celebrities and substances, as per the lawsuit. After accepting a drink at the event, the plaintiff was unable to function properly, and she was later assaulted by Diddy and Jay-Z in a private room.
Diddy’s legal team claimed that the lawsuits were efforts to extort money from celebrities. Diddy, who is currently behind bars, faces multiple lawsuits and federal charges such as racketeering and sex trafficking and has denied the rape allegations.
Similarly, Jay-Z rejected the accusations, labelling them as “idiotic” and “heinous.” He also prompted the plaintiff’s legal team to pursue criminal rather than civil charges by releasing a statement that said anyone who rapes a minor should be behind bars.
Jay-Z strongly denied the allegations and described it as part of a campaign of extortion” by attorney Tony Buzbee. Tony Buzbee is the lawyer who filed the lawsuit on behalf of the anonymous plaintiff, “Jane Doe.” Buzbee represents many of the plaintiffs in Diddy’s lawsuits, and, according to circulating information online, he has been accused of extorting celebrities by trying to get them to quietly settle lawsuits. However, Jay-Z refuses to pay, leading to this legal battle, which features him claiming Buzbee was attempting to blackmail him.
Fighting back, Jay-Z is strongly against the anonymity of the plaintiff and is requesting that her identity be revealed or the lawsuit be dismissed. Jay-Z’s attorney stated that he should not have to defend himself in public against someone who hides. The statement mentioned that a witness at the event could refute the allegations tarnishing his career if the plaintiff’s identity were revealed.
However, the public is unconvinced and waiting to see how the legal proceedings unfold. Since the lawsuits were filed against music mogul Diddy, some internet users have tried to link Jay-Z to the reported shady dealings of Diddy.
