A Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) employee died while on duty in Trelawny on Monday afternoon. The deceased, identified as 66-year-old Courtney Robinson, was employed as a contractor with JPS and was working on a utility pole when he fell from a ladder.
A report says that a team of JPS workers was dispatched to the Butt Up Town area of Albert Town, which is found in Trelawny’s southern region. Robinson, who resided in Mandeville, Manchester, was among the team.
Residents in the community told the media that the incident occurred around 4:00 p.m. while the worker was on the ladder. He reportedly fell to the ground, where his head struck the road hard. The impact led to severe head injuries. When officials arrived at the scene, he was confirmed dead.

At this time, the exact circumstances that led to Robinson’s fall remain unclear. Unofficial accounts suggested that he may have been electrocuted, causing him to fall from the ladder. However, the police have not confirmed this information. Investigators have not indicated whether electricity or any other factor played a role in the incident.
The Constabulary Communications Network (CCN) acknowledged that the incident was brought to the attention of the police, noting that information is still limited while inquiries continue. Law enforcement personnel were dispatched to the location soon after the report was received.

Moon 10 obtained photos and videos of the aftermath, which revealed that the worker was bleeding from his injuries. A crowd quickly gathered in the area, which was captured in a video. When police arrived, the area was cordoned off to allow law enforcement personnel to examine the scene and carry out preliminary checks.

Officials have not yet outlined the nature of the task he was performing or whether safety equipment was in use. Additionally, no official statement has been released by JPS regarding the incident as of publication.
