Giovanni Ellis, the man accused of raping and killing 9-year-old Kelsey Ferrigon, has been killed. Moon 10 understands that he was fatally shot by law enforcers on Monday morning, days after he allegedly murdered the child.
According to sources, Ellis was killed in Sandy Bay, Clarendon. There are currently limited details surrounding his death. The news of his demise comes on the heels of his mother, Lerlene Williams, calling for him to be killed, as reported by Nationwide News.
Williams also spoke to the Jamaica Observer, expressing that her son was “wicked” for what he did. She said she was extremely close to the little girl and loved her like she was her flesh and blood. Kelsey was found stuffed in a barrel after being raped and murdered.
The barrel was inside her home on Job Lane in Spanish Town. Williams lived in the area and had many interactions with the family. Before the heinous murder, she saw her son in the area. He was previously in police custody for an assault charge and was released on bail.
Giovanni Ellis’s mother says she was stunned to see him walking free on Friday afternoon, just hours before a nine-year-old girl was found dead. She had refused to post his bail due to his previous charges of rape and assault, believing that jail time might have reformed him. Shocked and heartbroken, she stated that she had cut all ties with her son and no longer wanted anything to do with him.
Ellis, the third of her five children, was raised by his father from the age of two and never spent more than a month living with her. She described him as a lifelong “problem child” who brought her more pain than any of her other children. She admitted to knowing little about his day-to-day life or behaviour, and she firmly labelled him “wicked”.
