A man who was filmed shooting his former friend, Norris Farquharson, in the head on Tavern Avenue in Papine, Kingston 6, has been formally charged. This comes several days after Fraquharson’s family pleaded for justice during an interview with a local news outlet.
Norris was shot twice in the head by Ishmael Davis last week. It was confirmed on Tuesday that 52-year-old Davis is facing multiple charges. These charges include murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition and using a firearm to commit a felony, according to the Jamaica Observer.
The victim, Norris Farquharson, has been identified as a 57-year-old blockmaker from the same community. His family described him as a hard-working man who does construction and welding work. He was fatally shot twice in the head during a dispute, which was caught by a surveillance camera. The incident unfolded around 7 a.m., but the nature of the argument is still unknown.

The viral video shows Davis brandishing his licensed firearm, a Glock 9mm pistol, and firing two rounds that strike Norris. Reports say Norris was shot in the right side of his face. The video shows him falling to the ground after being shot, and neighbours flocking to the scene upon hearing the explosions.
Additional footage captured by a resident shows Norris lying in a pool of blood, which is how police found him when they were called to the scene. Norris was pronounced dead after being transported to the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI).
Davis indicated that he was acting in self-defence by claiming Norris had withdrawn a knife during an argument. However, the daughter of the deceased denied the claim, saying Norris only had a tablet in his hand. The Jamaica Observer also reported that the police discovered a knife at the scene, which is being treated as evidence. Police also confiscated Davis’ licensed firearm.
Police extracted and reviewed the CCTV footage of the incident during the investigation. After police reportedly saw that Norris did not attack Davis, officers sat Davis down for a question-and-answer interview in the presence of his attorney at the Half-Way-Tree CIB on Saturday. Davis was formally charged on Tuesday, and a court date has not yet been finalised.
