Three people were chopped to death by a relative in Clarendon on Thursday night. The attack reportedly came on the heels of a family dispute that occurred earlier that evening.
Reports say that the family home in the Frazersfield community of Rocky Point became a gruesome scene sometime around 9:10 p.m. The suspect, a man allegedly in his 20s, reportedly used a machete to hack his mother, brother, and female cousin to death.
Police say they were called to the scene shortly after the incident, and on their arrival, they found the bodies of the victims. The family members were pronounced dead at the scene.
The victims have since been identified as Annette Lindo, the suspect’s mother, who worked as a domestic helper and vendor; Ingrid Keisha Lindo, the suspect’s cousin, who worked as a vendor; and 32-year-old Linval Henry, the suspect’s brother, who worked as a fisherman.
Circulating claims on social media say the heads of all three victims were severed. The claims also said the attack began at the residence’s main gate and continued inside the house. However, these claims have not yet been confirmed by the police.
It appears that the suspect was still at the scene when the police arrived. The police reported that they took him into custody. A report from Nationwide News later identified him as Daniel Henry. Authorities are now investigating the triple homicide and have not yet formally charged Henry for the incident.
Moon 10 understands that Henry is battling mental illness and has been receiving treatment. Earlier that same day, he received medication at Lionel Town Clinic in the parish.
Following the incident, the Jamaica Constabulary Force extended condolences to those affected by the murders. It also urged anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the nearest police station or Crime Stop.
