On Monday, a man was shot dead after interfering with a funeral at St. Catherine’s Dovecot Memorial Park.
Since then, the man who was thought to be mentally ill has been identified as 23-year-old Isaac Foster of Kitson Town, St. Catherine’s Penny Piece District.
On social media, a video of the incident has gone viral.
According to reports that made it to Moon 10, the burial was underway at the cemetery around 2:15 pm when Foster showed up and interrupted the ceremony.
According to police, the dead allegedly tore the body from the coffin and struck one of the mourners in the head with a piece of concrete block.
Two licensed gun owners were among the grieving when he allegedly started hurling stones at them.
According to the authorities, Foster moved closer to the licensed gun owners, who, fearing for their lives, fired their firearms at him, striking him.
When police arrived on the scene and saw that the licensed gun owners were holding their weapons, they fired their rifles into the air and commanded the two men to down their weapons, which they complied with.
After being taken to the Spanish Town Hospital with a wounded mourner, Foster was declared dead by medical professionals. After receiving treatment, the other man was set free.
