A 24-year-old man wanted for murder accidentally shot himself in the head while broadcasting live on TikTok. The man, identified as Jamal “Skinny” Bourne, was streaming from Stanleytown, West Bank Demerara, in Guyana, when the incident occurred on Sunday.
Reports say he was engaging with viewers on the social media platform before he brandished a firearm. Moments leading up to the explosion show him wearing a ski mask as he highlights several guns on display. Another masked man near him is seen wielding a knife, which is later swapped out for a handgun. At that point, Bourne is also seen with a handgun, which he aimed at himself multiple times while singing. He even teases the trigger and shows a bullet in the chamber and the loaded magazine.
An explosion from Bourne’s gun came when he pointed it at his head after removing the magazine, and also seemingly one from the chamber. After pulling the trigger, Bourne fell limp onto his masked associate, who quickly turned the camera away. Moments later, screams erupted in the background before the video abruptly ended. Some viewers reported seeing a small amount of blood at the spot where the gun was aimed.
Reports later confirmed that Bourned died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Bourne had been the subject of an active manhunt by the Guyana Police Force in connection with the September 12, 2024, murder of Akeem Hamer, popularly known as “Max”. The killing occurred at Samaroo Dam, Pouderoyen.
Authorities had issued a wanted bulletin for Bourne, as well as for another suspect, Roman Roberts. Bourne’s background indicates that he lived at Lot 14, Fifth Avenue, Diamond, East Bank Demerara. Police are currently probing the incident as well as the weapons that were filmed. The identity of the second individual has not yet been released and is being investigated.
