Renowned Dancehall artiste Masicka left fans thrilled after he revealed that he has a new project slated to be released on December 4. What is even more interesting is that Masicka’s new album is expected to be his “best work yet,” while his 2023 sophomore album is currently up for Grammy consideration in the Best Reggae Album category at the 67th Grammy Awards.
In the post shared on the social media platform on Thursday, Masicka wrote, “New project December 4th. Best work yet.” While he did not disclose specific details about the project, Mascika teases a new album December is a significant month for the Moment Like These artiste. Masicka was born on December 16, and his upcoming birthday celebration will take place on December 2 in Toronto, Canada.
Furthermore, Generation of Kings, which debuted at #2 on the Billboard Reggae Albums, was released in December under Def Jam Records. The 17-track album includes collaborations with other renowned artistes such as Popcaan, Spice, Dexta Daps, Chronic Law, Lila Ike, and Fridayy. Additionally, Masicka’s first album, 438, was released in December 2022 and debuted at #2 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart.
While fans wait for the new project in December, Masicka remains consistent with his music by dropping a new Ruppi/Now or Never-directed music video on October 31 entitled Whites, which was produced by Attomatic Records, Dan Sky Records, and 1 Syde Records. The track is currently at #8 on YouTube’s Trending Music chart with 246,000 views, and at #3 is his song Who Fi Stop We, which was released on October 23 and has since accumulated over 753,000 views.
Meanwhile, the anticipation builds for November 8, when the Grammy Awards committee will announce whether Generation of Kings officially makes it to the nominee list for the awards set to take place on February 2 at the Crypto Arena in Los Angeles. Other notable albums competing for the Best Reggae Album Grammy category for 2024 include Bugle’s Apex, Mutabaruka’s Black Attack, Spice’s Mirror 25, Etana’s Nectar of the Gods, Shenseea’s Never Gets Late Here, Vybz Kartel’s Party with Me, and even Bob Marley: One Love—Music Inspired by the Film.
