Masicka was initially one of the newest additions to Vybz Kartel’s impressive roster of local and international stars set to perform at his Freedom Street concert. However, it has been announced that Masicka will not be able to give fans a show at the highly anticipated New Year’s Eve event due to a contractual agreement with a different event organiser.
The announcement was made by Munk Truck Show organisers, who sought to inform the public they have an exclusive territorial contract with the dancehall artiste. This type of contract is a legal agreement that gives a producer or label exclusive rights to a singer’s performances for a set period.
The organisers of the Munk Truck Show booked Masicka to perform on Wednesday in Clarendon. As a result, Masicka cannot perform at Freedom Street at the National Stadium on Tuesday.
“Dancehall artist Masicka and Show promoter Munk Truck Show Ltd. have confirmed an exclusive territorial contract to perform at the Clarendon-based Munk Truck Show on January 1, 2025,” the press release read. “This commitment will prevent the artist from appearing at the Freedom Street event scheduled for December 31, 2024.”
Additionally, the statement shared that Masick expressed his intention to perform with Vybz Kartel, whom he called a “legend,” on an international stage. When the two finally reunite on the international stage, they will perform their hit single Dawgs Dem Haffi Live, according to the press release.
Additionally, the release shared that the Whites deejay is excited to perform in Jamaica on Wednesday at the annual Munk Truck Show. The release continued by noting that Masicka expressed his gratitude to his fans and the organisers of the Munk Truck Show.
The press release was shared on Instagram, and in the caption, the organisers told fans that the “Truck Show is the ONLY place to be” to see a live performance from Masicka.
