MC Nuffy has issued a public apology following backlash over his recent criticism of the Grammy Awards, hours after Vybz Kartel released a statement distancing himself from the controversy.
Late last night, Vybz Kartel posted a notice making it clear that he was not involved in, nor did he endorse, the remarks made by MC Nuffy regarding the Grammy Awards and its selection process. Shortly after that statement circulated, MC Nuffy retracted his comments and shared a written apology on Instagram.
In the statement, MC Nuffy formally apologized to the Recording Academy and the Grammy Awards Committee,. Heacknowledging that his remarks were inappropriate and made in a moment of heightened emotion. He emphasized that the comments reflected his personal opinion and were not influenced by Vybz Kartel, whose real name is Azim Adidja Palmer.
MC Nuffy also expressed regret to the award recipient in the category he previously criticized, stating that his remarks were never intended to undermine or diminish the artist’s achievement or recognition.
“I acknowledge that my comments were inappropriate and did not reflect the respect owed to the Recording Academy or its longstanding process. I also extend a sincere apology to the recipient of the award in that category, as my remarks were not intended to diminish their achievement or recognition,” he said.

In his viral video Andrew “MC Nuffy” Nelson MC Nuffy criticised the Grammy Awards and its organisers, accusing the selection process of being biased. He took jabs at Keznamdi, who’s Blxxd and Fyah album won the Best Reggae Album award and also threw shade at Masicka who reportedly contributed to the ablum.
