Megan Thee Stallion is once again making it clear that she has not changed her stance about Tory Lanez shooting her in 2020. The rapper took to TikTok on Monday to call out the continued harassment she’s been facing and to shut down claims of “new evidence” in the case against Tory Lanez.
“Tory you shot me!! Ain’t no new f**ing evidence,” she posted. “Facts are facts, he did it, it was proven in court.” The shooting took place on July 12, 2020, and led to Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, being convicted of multiple firearm charges. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, but many of his fans have been sceptical about the trial. Some believed that Megan Thee Stallion lied about Lanez shooting her, prompting fans to criticise Megan.
The backlash reignited a couple of days ago when Lanez’s legal team claimed that new evidence proved Lanez did not pull the trigger. After Lanez was reportedly stabbed 14 times by an inmate and had to be hospitalised, his team came forward, claiming a bodyguard employed by Megan’s former friend Kelsey Harris had heard Harris admit to having the weapon that night.
On the heels of this announcement, Megan made a social media post clapping back at critics. She denied the evidence and urged people to stop reopening old wounds. Megan says she’s still dealing with constant harassment from internet users and misinformation online.
“Y’all been saying the same s** for years… Why in the f*** would me…Megan Thee Stallion have to lie on this…? How y’all mad at the person that got shot????” she asked in her post, visibly frustrated.
She pointed out that critics were initially in disbelief that she was even shot, and now the narrative is being twisted that he was not the one who shot her. Megan expressed that she was tired of defending herself.
She also reminded fans that Lanez never testified that he did not shoot her during the trial. “He ain’t dare get on that stand and deny he shot me and that was his choice because he knows he did that s*,” she said. She also called Tory a “demon” while telling him to leave her alone.
The alleged new evidence has also reignited the call for Lanez to be released from prison. A petition for Lanez’s pardon has also gained major backing, accumulating almost 300,000 signatures. Among those who signed the petition are celebrities like Drake, Chris Brown, and Popcaan.
