A Mexican tourist who reportedly went missing at Blue Hole has been found dead. He is believed to have drowned, and his body was pulled from the water during a search operation.
Word of his disappearance came on April 9. Preliminary reports indicate that the tourist was last seen sitting on a rock during his visit to the popular river attraction in St Ann, according to TVJ New. His sudden disappearance sparked concern, leading to the authorities being notified.
Members of the Jamaica Defence Force, along with police divers, were deployed to the location as part of the recovery operation. Authorities experienced difficulties in the water while searching for the tourist and had to pause until conditions improved.
An update later confirmed that the tourist’s body was recovered from the water. Footage circulating online shows the moment officials retrieved the body, with emergency personnel present at the scene.
In the wake of the incident, a company operating under the name “Original Blue Hole” issued statements distancing itself from the situation. In posts shared on Instagram, the entity stated that no drowning occurred at its location and emphasised that guest safety remains a priority.
The company also addressed the matter in the comment section of a news report, claiming that there is often confusion surrounding the name “Blue Hole,” as multiple attractions in the area use similar branding. Representatives argued that this has led to their business being wrongly associated with incidents they say did not occur on their property.

They further alleged that the tourist had visited a different location, Nature Blue Hole, and later moved to another nearby site, Bridgefarm Blue, where they indicate the incident was believed to have taken place.

There is limited information on the case, and authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
