After a Minnesota Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer fatally shot a woman in the face on Wednesday, her partner broke down in tears. Several videos have gone viral online of the tragic shooting, including footage of the distressed woman on the ground in Minneapolis. Her spouse could be heard saying she was struggling to breathe as she cried near just outside an onlooker’s home, who began filming the scene.
The onlooker said he heard gunshots and rushed outside. Three shots were fired in total at Renee Nicole Good’s Honda Pilot after ICE officers told her to “get the fuck out of the car”, but she continued to drive. The onlooker asked the grieving woman if she was also in the vehicle. In response, she said, “That’s my wife,” and added that she has a 6-year-old daughter at school.
Some of her words are unclear due to her devastation. She was asked if she got in touch with her folks, but she said she is new to the community and expressed that she couldn’t breathe. Good is accused of trying to run over ICE officers by officials. Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said the officer who shot Good acted in self-defence.

McLaughlin indicated that she was obstructing the agents’ operation. President Donald Trump also echoed her statements, saying the agent almost lost his life. Kristi Noem also claimed the officers were acting in self-defence and described the Goods’ behaviour as “an act of domestic terrorism”. She reiterated that the woman was attempting to run over the agents and urged all elected officials to condemn violence against law enforcers.

In videos of the shooting, the agent is seen closer to the front of the vehicle while other agents are along the side. They ordered her to get out and tried to force the driver’s door open, but Good reversed the vehicle and drove forward. The shooter withdrew his gun and shot at her, causing the vehicle to crash. The agent then walks to the vehicle as bystanders speak out against him.
Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey lashed out at ICE for their alleged use of excessive force. The mayor called ICE out for being a liar and ordered them to “get the f**k out of the city. He told the agents that they were unwelcome and accused them of being a threat to the community. The FBI and other agencies have since gotten involved in the incident and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
