A section of Walt Disney World was once again cordoned off after a dead body was found on Thursday, marking the third body discovered on the property within the last 10 days. The incident occurred at Bay Lake Tower, part of Disney’s Contemporary Resort in Florida, where police and emergency personnel were seen surrounding a taped-off pool area as guests looked on.
According to an eyewitness video posted on TikTok, visitors were informed that the situation was a “medical emergency”, though no additional details were provided at the time. The Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office later confirmed the death but stated their examination was still ongoing.
This latest incident adds to a troubling pattern of fatalities at Walt Disney World over a remarkably short span of time. Just days earlier, on October 14, a woman identified as 31-year-old Summer Equitz reportedly died by suicide at the same resort.
Then, on October 21, a male guest in his 60s was found deceased at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground after what officials described as a “medical episode”. Authorities reported no signs of foul play in that case.
While Disney has not released any public statement regarding the most recent death, the recurring nature of these incidents has led to rising concern among guests and observers. This cluster of tragedies in Florida comes shortly after a separate death at Disneyland in California on October 8. A woman in her 60s was found unresponsive while riding the Haunted Mansion attraction.
Emergency personnel attempted life-saving measures and transported her to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. According to dispatch audio from that incident, responders entered through a restricted access area to reach her as quickly as possible. Reports say that the woman is believed to have suffered a heart attack during the ride.
While all deaths appear to have been medical in nature with no suspicion of foul play, the back-to-back occurrences have cast a sombre tone over parks known for family vacations and celebrations.
