A music video with a policewoman dancing on a pole while wearing a thong has gone viral. The detective, Melissa Mercado from the police department’s special victims’ unit in New York, shocked many when a video of her in a raunchy music video went viral.
The music video was first shared online by World Hip Hop. In the video, the policewoman can be seen flaunting her curvaceous body in a thong and a bra while she performs risqué dance moves on a pole. According to a report, the cop’s pole-dancing and twerking skills were displayed in Hempstead rapper Phavian “S-Quire” Winfield’s music video for his song Doin’ That.
Mercado has served seven years on the force. According to the New York Post, Mercado is a $144,000-a-year grade 3 detective who joined the force in 2018.
While her name was not mentioned in the music video, authorities identified her. While the video garnered some criticism, many of the responses have been positive with viewers defending her. Some of her colleagues also defended her, expressing that her appearance in the video had nothing to do with the job or the police department.
A police union source said that it did not have anything to do with “her as an employee, as an NYC detective” because she is “not wearing NYPD paraphernalia” and “nothing in the video says she’s a detective.”
The source added that she would be “obligated to file an off-duty employment application” if she has a side job because the department wants to know about such things. However, “nothing she does in the video is the department’s business.”
Another police source stated that Mercado is “respected by her peers,” but a disgusted officer said they “had no word” regarding the raunchy video. Meanwhile, the video has garnered mixed reactions on social media. One viewer said, “What she do outside of work is none of yall business.” Another viewer wrote, “She not in uniform, and she not on the clock! Strip clubs not illegal so what’s the issue?”
