More drama has stirred up on the heels of Xavier ‘Niah Gang’ Fogah’s death. The latest controversy involves his father, who many social media users have been describing as a clout chaser. Niah’s father, who resides overseas, returned to Jamaica after his son was gunned down at his home in Old Harbour. The father recently returned from abroad but not before sparking a rumour that he only came to capture Niah’s possessions.
Several social media users claimed that Niah’s father seized his son’s clothes and jewellery upon his arrival. These users highlighted that he has been wearing Niah’s items. Adding fuel to the fire of allegations, Niah’s father took his son’s phone and carried it with him abroad, sparking allegations that he was only interested in the money being made on Niah’s TikTok page.
The father has been receiving a flood of criticism online for claiming the phone. Although he tried to clear the air on TikTok, most social media users insist that he is only reaping the rewards from his dead son’s TikTok account, which has over 310,000 followers.
“Niah, my son, and I go down there, and I get the phone,” he said during a livestream. He also mentioned that Niah’s daughter did not need to have the phone at her age. As per his belief, it would be better if the toddler sees reminders of her father.
It is said that Niah’s close friend, known by the alias CPR, was previously responsible for the phone, which at some point was handed over to Niah’s daughter. CPR, along with many social media users, believes that the toddler should keep her father’s phone.
However, Niah’s father said that he intends to return the phone when she is older. He spoke to CPR during a TikTok live session regarding how he took the phone and did not return it to CPR. CPR clarified that while he had no issues with Niah’s father, he never imagined that the father would leave the country with the phone.
The father also did a TikTok livestream, expressing that he is grieving even though people have been criticising him for appearing “too happy” after losing his son. He also addressed allegations that he and Niah were not on good terms, stating that they were very close and spoke every day before his death.
