Following the death of Marlon Samuels, popularly known as 41 Busshead, social media users have been expressing their dismay and condolences. Among those wishing the TikToker found peace after death is Nicki Minaj.
The Queen of Rap shared a heartwarming message on her Instagram Story. The post featured a picture of Samuels while her song “If It’s Okay” featuring David Guetta played. She captioned the post, “You slept in peace for your birthday, sweetheart. Rest up.”
Sunday marked the second time Nicki Minaj, born Onika Maraj, shared a post with the 23-year-old rising TikTok sensation. Around two weeks ago, the SuperBass rapper reshared a TikTok video Samuels made. Sometime after making the post, she also had a conversation with him during a TikTok livestream. He received praise from her and also TikTok gifts.
Samuels was gunned down in Montego Bay, St. James, on Friday night, hours before his 24th birthday. While the police are investigating his murder, they are also trying to prevent retaliation that may ignite a gang war.
A report detailed that Samuels, a resident of Rose Heights, had gotten his hair done for his birthday celebration shortly before he died. He was fatally shot around 10:00 p.m. while he was heading to his car on North Lane. The unknown gunmen fled the scene after shooting him. Samuels was pronounced dead at the scene.
Samuels’ is the second Jamaican TikToker to be gunned down in December, which has sparked speculations regarding the safety of TikTok users. However, National Security Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, Dr. Horace Chang, does not believe that social media users are in danger.
Change stated that Samuel’s murder “is opening up the potential of a gang conflict” but “the police is going to take every step to prevent the kind of retaliation and war that could break out between two gangs in Montego Bay.”
He also mentioned that Samuels is related to “someone who is considered a leader” in the criminal underworld in Montego Bay, but he believes it to be coincidental.
