A passenger spat on a rideshare driver following a dispute over the number of passengers he was willing to accommodate. The March 16 incident was caught on camera on the vehicle’s dash cam. In the video, a group of men clashed with their driver.
The passengers, 5 African Americans, questioned why the driver refused to accommodate around 7-8 of them. Based on their conversation, a sixth individual had entered the rideshare vehicle, but his disapproval resulted in the sixth passenger exiting.
According to video footage released on April 1, 2025, the driver maintained a calm yet firm stance throughout the exchange. The argument ignited when one of the passengers, visibly agitated, questioned the driver’s decision to refuse extra riders.
The passengers even suggested that the driver would have been offered a hefty tip for his troubles, but he declined the offer. One of the passengers can be heard saying, “You sound stupid, bro, real bro. You sound dumb.” Another voice from the back retorted, “You sound like a goofy foe. You stupid.”
As the driver remained adamant, one passenger escalated the situation further. When the group realised that the driver was resolute in his refusal, they began to exit the vehicle. The most vocal individual, seated in the back, becomes aggressive and takes things to a physical level.
While leaving, the passenger spit on the driver, threw an object in his direction, and then proceeded to smack him in the head. Throughout the ordeal, the driver remained seated and calm, demonstrating a measured response despite the aggressive behaviour of his passengers.
In response to the video, many viewers expressed their support for the driver’s firm stance on outright hostility. One user, Lil Nut, expressed sympathy, saying, “That’s so messed up, wtf. Should have immediately called the police on those dumbasses. I feel so bad for that guy.”
The video also drew a wave of contentious and divisive opinions. Certain comments left racist remarks, including Jizzle Nizzle, who said. “STOP PICKING UP BLACKENED-SKIN ONES AS PASSENGERS.” Several others echoed this sentiment, some claimed they’d cancel rides when seeing “certain types” of passengers.
