The unexplained disappearance of a St Andrew woman has triggered growing alarm among her family and friends, especially after her boyfriend also went missing a week later.
Stephanie Porter has not been seen since May 24, adding to a string of missing people cases in Jamaica. She worked as a dental assistant at a health facility in the Hughenden area of Kingston 20. She was last spotted wearing a pink blouse and black shorts. The 33-year-old is a mother of two and is known for being quiet and friendly to loved ones. Her sudden disappearance has left her family and friends stunned.
A close friend of Porter’s insisted that she would never vanish without notifying others about her whereabouts. The friend, speaking to the Jamaica Star, also described Porter as a homebody who had an ordinary day-to-day routine that consisted of going to work, staying home with her children, or spending time with her partner.
Adding to the anxiety, Porter’s boyfriend vanished on May 31, just seven days after she was reported missing. His sudden disappearance has raised even more questions and intensified suspicions about what may have happened.
The investigation is being led by Superintendent Randy Sweeny of the St. Andrew North Division. Sweeny indicated that the case is a high priority for his division as his team continues to probe the area where Porter was last seen. Porter’s friend described her as well-groomed, kind-hearted, and always smiling. “When she’s going out, she knows to put herself together,” the friend recalled. “She is always smiling.”
With two children, one a teen and the other a nine-year-old son, Porter’s disappearance has left a noticeable void. Her mother, already distraught as Stephanie’s only child, is clinging to hope that her daughter will return safely.
“Any information is accepted at this time. Just to know that she is okay. “I don’t want to think otherwise,” her friend pleaded, indicating that any information on whether she is with someone or at a friend’s place, anything is better than not knowing anything at all.
As the investigation continues, police confirmed that they are pursuing all possible leads to find the missing woman, who is described as being five feet tall with a brown complexion and medium build.
