Reggae artiste Pressure Busspipe was held at gunpoint and robbed of his jewellery in the British Virgin Islands (BVI). News of the armed robbery involving the artist has rocked the region and raised safety concerns. The incident happened on Sunday, hours after the singer attended the much-anticipated Vybz Kartel concert.
While the entertainer has reassured fans that he is unharmed, the armed robbery comes amid a string of violent incidents, sparking discussion about safety in the region. The same weekend also saw multiple gun-related crimes, according to Prism Marketing Consultants.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Pressure Busspipe said that he and his entourage were heading to his vehicle Sunday morning when he was confronted by armed individuals. The thieves took his chain, bracelet, and ring. He refrained from disclosing further details regarding the ordeal.
He also took the time to express his appreciation to everyone who showed their concern and support.
“I am OK, and I am thankful to everyone for their outpouring of love and support,” he said.
According to reports, the incident was captured on a security camera. However, law enforcement in the BVI has stated they have “no reports” of the crime. There was also another armed robbery that weekend, and there were reports of gunfire.
Acting Police Commissioner Jacqueline Vanterpool has since addressed the incident and the issue of violence in the region, urging the public to assist in investigations. “We encourage everyone to remain vigilant and report anything suspicious, no matter how small,” she said.
Pressure Busspipe, legally named Delyno Brown, is a reggae artist hailing from Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. His journey began in the late 1990s, when he emerged as part of the Star Lion sound system, and his career soared to new heights with the release of a remixed version of Love and Affection in 2007.
