The nominees for the 2025 Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album have been announced, revealing a mix of talented reggae and dancehall artists that includes Shenseea and Vybz Kartel. The announcement, made on Friday by the Recording Academy, highlighted Vybz Kartel’s Party With Me and Shenseea’s Never Gets Late Here as nominated albums, showing the significant impact dancehall has on the global music scene.
Shenseea, born Chinsea Linda Lee, was in tears to learn that her album was nominated and quickly expressed her gratitude to her fans and her dedicated team on social media. She also urged her fans to vote for her album, which was released on May 4, 2024. The 14-track album went to No. 4 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart and No. 18 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart.
The album was produced by Rich Immigrants/Interscope and features Brazilian pop sensation Anitta on Red Flag, Afrobeats star Wizkid on Work Me Out, Coi Leray on Flava, and fellow dancehall artist Masicka on the chart-topping Hit and Run.
Notably, Shenseea received a Grammy nomination in the past when her contributions to Kanye West’s Donda album resulted in her earning a nomination for ‘Album Of The Year’.
