Dancehall star Shenseea is raising some eyebrows after revealing in a recent livestream that she was “taken advantage of” during the early stages of her career. The singer, who started out singing in her church choir before being discovered by well-known producer Romeich Major, did not name names, but her statement has stirred speculation online.
For years, Romeich was the driving force behind Shenseea’s rise, managing her through her breakout hits and helping shape her image before she inked a major deal with international label Rich Immigrants and Interscope Records, a move many saw as her official launch into the global music market.
However, Shenseea parted ways with the label last year and became an independent artist in November. While she has embraced her creative freedom and said she could rediscover her passion for music, Shenseea admitted during a candid moment on livestream that the weight of being independent is not easy.
She made it clear that she would not remain independent for long. In her recent TikTok livestream, she reiterated this while expressing that this time she is armed with experience and clear expectations.
However, it was her admission about being taken advantage of that really got tongues wagging. Vlogger KingMixup wasted no time linking Shenseea’s cryptic comment to past allegations made by fellow dancehall star Spice, who once accused Romeich Major of betrayal.
According to Spice, she and Shenseea were originally on good terms, even supporting each other publicly, until Romeich allegedly drove a wedge between them. She also claimed that Major stole money from Shenseea while managing her. Those serious accusations were once dismissed by some as hearsay.
Romeich is no stranger to controversy, with dancehall artist Tifa previously calling him out for meddling in her career. The outspoken entertainer accused him of crushing dreams and blocking opportunities, boldly claiming that he has a habit of stepping on people’s aspirations to elevate his own agenda.
