Vybz Kartel’s ex, Tanesha Johnson, better known as Shorty, continues to face criticism from social media users. While she often ignores naysayers, Shorty clapped back at them in her recent livestream. Shorty was streaming live on TikTok on Friday when she addressed the most recent criticisms directed at her. Friday marked the launch party for her Likkle Addi’s EP, prompting many warm congratulations from supporters.
Shorty was also well aware of the chatter from naysayers and acknowledged them with sharp responses. “Dem always a talk shit, and dem nuh know nothing bout mi; meanwhile, dem a talk, and mi a live bill-free,” she told viewers, noting that her lifestyle remains stress-free.
For months, some online voices have been pitting her against Kartel’s fiancée, Sidem Öztürk, stirring debates over who they believe is the “better” partner for the incarcerated dancehall star. Shorty made it clear she wasn’t here for the comparisons.
Despite the constant attempts by some to create tension between the two women, there has never been any public sign of bad blood. In fact, Kartel himself has shown on multiple occasions that he and Shorty maintain a cordial relationship.
While addressing the public, she even publicly credited him for ensuring her comfort, saying, “Big up to mi babyfada; he ensures that I live comfortably.”
According to Shorty, the online gossip does not require a flashy rebuttal or staged display of wealth. She expressed that she does not have to be concerned about bills, highlighted the mansion, and added, “Meanwhile, they talk, and I sit down and count money.”
Her focus, she explained, is on her children and grandchildren, not on public approval. While critics continue to pit her against Sidem and criticise her, Shorty remains unmoved by the attempts to spark rivalry. Her remarks seem to show a woman confident in her place in Kartel’s life story, past and present, and unbothered by those trying to stir unnecessary drama.
