Jamaican dancehall artiste Skeng has revealed that he is working on an album. The deejay revealed his current musical affairs on the social media platform X on Tuesday. While specific details were not shared by the deejay, a post that was made minutes before the album announcement confirmed a collaboration that apparently will be featured on the album.
The post shared a photograph of Skeng and rapper Nicki Minaj. The caption of the post read, “Nicki Minaj & Skeng new music 2025.” The revelation that Nicki Minaj will be featured on the album has sparked excitement among fans.
This will mark their second collaboration together, as Nicki Minaj joined him on a remix of his Likkle Miss single in 2022. Nicki Minaj also did a second remix of the song, featuring eight talented female artistes, including Jamaican dancehall artistes Spice, Dovey Magnum, and Pamputtae.
Additionally, Skeng was featured in Nicki Minaj’s Red Ruby Da Sleeze music video in 2023. Nicki Minaj has endorsed Skeng’s music on multiple occasions, and she signed him to her record label in 2023.
It is unclear if Skeng’s new album features other collaborations, but the deejay made another post asking fans if they want him to collaborate with Barbadian superstar Rihanna.
Skeng, born Kevon Douglas, released his debut EP, Beast of the Era, in 2022. Producers Rvssian, John Coop, Di Truth, and Droptop Records contributed to the album, and Skeng’s independent label, RG Music (Ratty Gang Music), was the executive producer. Additionally, the publishing was done by Geejam Songs.
The dancehall sensation achieved a significant milestone when his EP peaked at No. 1 on the Reggae iTunes chart, according to World Music Views. In Trinidad and Tobago, the 6-track EP also peaked at No. 2 and secured the No. 25 position in the Middle Eastern nation of Cyprus.
Additionally, the EP earned a notable placement on Apple Music across the Caribbean. The EP secured No. 2 in Jamaica, No. 11 in Anguilla, and No. 17 in the Cayman Islands, among others.
Another achievement for the deejay is when he became the only Jamaican artiste to be featured on the Global Digital Artist Ranking list in 2022. The list, comprised of 200 artistes who are listed based on points from digital streams, ranked Skeng at No. 175.
Furthermore, his hit single “Protocol” dominated The World Music Views YouTube Charts, peaking at No. 1 and spending 27 weeks on the platform.
