Jamaican influencer Drezel Simmonds and Chad Walker, a young businessman, have become the focus of intense online discussion following a public fallout that spilt across social media.
The controversy surfaced after Chad went online to report that his expensive gold chain had gone missing. At first, he did not name anyone. Instead, he warned the anonymous person he believed had taken the jewellery to return it, even offering a cash reward to anyone with useful information. Days later, Chad publicly identified Drezel, his former girlfriend, as the person he believed was responsible.
Footage later circulated showing police officers at a residence as Drezel gathered her belongings and was escorted away. Chad explained online that he and Drezel had lived together for several months before ending their relationship late this year. According to him, the chain was taken in September, but he delayed speaking out because he wanted to give her time to “do the right thing.”
The situation between him and Drezel exploded online after she posted a video with a voiceover that he interpreted as a jab at him. Though she did not name anyone, the clip appeared to target a homosexual individual whom she suggested wanted to be a woman. Chad claimed the post was meant to hint that he is gay, an allegation he strongly denied. In response, he lashed out publicly, sharing a series of damaging claims about Drezel’s lifestyle and past.
Among the allegations, Chad stated that he ended the relationship because Drezel was allegedly providing escort services. He claimed that during the early, happier stages of their relationship, she was not involved in prostitution, but that changed when they began facing difficulties.
He also alleged that Drezel had been offering escort services from a young age. He described a pattern of sleeping with men for money, which he said he overlooked when they were together. Before Chad came into the picture, Drezel was dating another man and got engaged. Chad alleged that she had been unfaithful during that past relationship.
He urged Drezel to “tell the truth” about herself and accused her of spreading lies about him. Chad warned that he had gathered evidence to support his claims and cautioned her to be careful. He also said he put her out of his home because of disrespectful behaviour, including comments about his mother.
Chad shared that he first met Drezel through his business, which she later promoted online. He said the promotion helped him gain thousands of followers on his business page, leading to further business dealings. He said they began communicating regularly after the relationship he was in at the time ended.
