Dancehall artiste Spice’s “Oh No” school tour, inspired by her most recent single, Hell No, discouraging kinky sexual acts, has been cancelled after several schools turned down the offer to participate. The Jamaican entertainer spoke about the incident during an interview on CVM’s morning show Sunrise.
During the interview, the Queen of Dancehall expressed her initial excitement for the tour, but her joy was short-lived. Spice, born Grace Hamilton, shared that she received multiple cancellation emails from different schools.
Spice stated that, based on the context of the emails, the schools were contacted by TBC, the radio arm of the Tarrant Baptist Church in Kingston, which is led by Reverend Jeffrey Shuttleworth. TBC reportedly indicated she was unsuitable to present at the schools, leading to the cancellations.
She explained that Shuttleworth spoke about her songs and music videos in his program, prompting her to believe that his issue lies with the content she releases. According to Spice, she was confused that he was using her musical content to deem her unfit for the schools when she intended to oppose kinks and not promote her music.
“I’m not going to the schools to show my music videos… I am going as a grown woman, a successful woman, Grace Hamilton, to speak and share and to encourage the kids to say no to the things that are happening,” she stated.
pice is known for her raunchy dancehall music that often features expletives. Her latest song, Hell No, spoke out against certain kinks that have become a trending topic in the dancehall scene. Spice received criticism for her track and was accused of “kink-shaming,” but she stood firm in her belief that young people should say no to sexual activities that fall below the norm.
