Jamaican dancehall artiste Squash’s mother is angry at the criticism that her son has been receiving following the news of his arrest. The initial report of his arrest detailed that no bond was set for the deejay, born Andrae Maurice Whittaker, but an update revealed that a bond of $3000 US was set for the dancehall artiste.
However, Squash remains in custody because of an immigration hold that was detailed in the police report. The deejay, who hails from Montego Bay, was apprehended in Miami, Florida, and is reportedly facing multiple gun-related charges.
After a police report of his arrest circulated on social media on Tuesday, there were mixed responses. His well-known nemesis, Blam Dem, rejoiced online and mocked him. Blam Dem, who has been very vocal about his disdain for the entertainer, also took shots at Squash’s mother, Shelly, laughing at her situation.
In response to the criticism, Shelly took to social media with a message for the naysayers. She expressed that while she is not happy with the situation, she will not be affected by what people are saying online. She indicated that she is strong because she is God’s daughter.
Shelly also said that those who hated her son only harboured resentment because he is always trending online. Without naming Blam Dem, she sent him a message, saying, “You Mr Battty mouth bwoy, nasty mouth bwoy, yuh own foreign?… Yuh glad him get lock up.Yuh fraid…. A owna mouth ago tek yuh own life.”
She continued to hurl disrespectful comments at the TikTokers who had something negative to say about her son and told them that while he was incarcerated, he was not dead. She also stated that she was leaving vengeance to God, adding that God has her and her son covered.
When the video was shared on Instagram, some viewers left negative responses while others supported her argument. One viewer said, “Only thing I agree with is rejoicing on ones downfall when they’ve done nothing to u but I’m Thankful my mom knows nothing of social media still.”
Another viewer wrote, “Go wash yuh face. Raise your kids right and u won’t have to come cuss strangers on SM about them.”
