A student has died, and a teacher is left injured after a school shooting in Bulverde, Texas. The shooter was identified as a 15-year-old student who turned the gun on himself after multiple shots on Monday morning.
The shooting unfolded at Hill County College Preparatory High School in the Mustang Vista area, just before morning classes began. The campus was placed on lockdown shortly after 8:30 a.m., when classes were scheduled to begin at 8:55 a.m., according to the school’s online schedule.
There were several explosions on the campus, which led to a rapid response from law enforcement. Deputies attached to the Comal County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the Mustang Vista area close to the school shortly after an alarm was raised. Meanwhile, panic spread across the campus.
When deputies moved in, they found two people with gunshot wounds: a teacher and a 15-year-old boy with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police later confirmed that the student shot the teacher and then committed suicide.
The injured educator was rushed to a hospital in San Antonio for treatment, though her current condition has not yet been disclosed. The student was pronounced dead at the scene. Though the teacher was the only one who sustained gunshot wounds, authorities have not yet confirmed if the teacher was the actual target.

Once investigators confirmed that there were no further threats and the situation was brought under control, arrangements were made to transport students to a nearby campus for reunification with their families.
Students were taken to Bulverde Middle School, where anxious parents gathered. After forming long lines, the parents were eventually reunited with their children. One father, speaking to local media, expressed concern about how his autistic daughter would cope in the aftermath, noting that returning to school may be especially difficult for her.
One student reported hearing loud explosions coming from an upper-floor classroom, followed by screams. Another said multiple shots rang out before a teacher quickly instructed students to take cover inside a classroom.
In a statement, officials acknowledged the fear experienced by families and the wider community, thanking them for their patience as the situation unfolded and information was verified.
