A Netflix Supacell actor and rapper has been hit with criminal charges after reportedly mowing down an individual in a hit-and-run incident. The accused, Justin Clarke-Samuel, known in the music world as Ghetts, is alleged to have struck a 20-year-old man with his vehicle in Ilford, east London, before leaving the scene without stopping.
Surveillance footage of the incident has been released, showing the man being hit by a vehicle when he began to cross the street. The incident took place on October 18, and the victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. On Monday, while Clarke-Samuel faced his first court appearance, the victim passed away.
The initial charge was causing serious injury by dangerous driving, but with the man’s death now confirmed, the charge is expected to be upgraded to causing death by dangerous driving when the case returns to court. Authorities have not yet announced whether any additional charges related to failing to stop will be added.
The 41-year-old was remanded into custody following the hearing at Stratford Magistrates’ Court and is scheduled to appear again in court on October 27. At this stage, police are still appealing for witnesses, urging anyone who may have seen the vehicle or captured footage of the incident to come forward. Investigators believe additional information from the public could play a key role in understanding how the collision unfolded.
Clarke-Samuel, known professionally as Ghetts, is a highly respected artist in the UK grime scene. Over the years, he has earned multiple industry honours, performed on global stages, and worked alongside major names such as Stormzy and Ed Sheeran. In 2024, he earned the MOBO Pioneer Award for his contributions to music and culture.
In addition to his music career, Clarke-Samuel expanded into acting in 2024, taking on the role of the antagonist “Crazy” in the hit Netflix series Supacell.
