The new year was met with a video circulating showing dancehall artiste Shenseea performing in Kenya and swiftly being removed from the stage by security. The video sparked questions regarding what occurred, and it has been revealed that the singer was escorted away due to a chaotic situation involving tear gas.
It was reported that during Shenseea’s New Year’s Eve performance in Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi, the crowd became very unruly. The Hit and Run artiste only managed to perform two songs at Kenya’s Raha Fest before her security had to step in.
According to the report on Thursday by Prism Marketing Consultant, several people breached the venue without tickets. The breach resulted in congested space and rising tensions. When the event’s security personnel attempted to control the situation with tear gas, chaos erupted inside the venue. Shenseea’s security quickly acted swiftly by escorting her to safety.

Following the incident, Shenseea expressed her emotions online with a post on the social media platform X, displaying her irritation. “Now, KENYA i’m a lil mad at y’all ngl!” she wrote. The post quickly garnered responses from Kenyan residents who empathized and also criticised the organiser of the event, who had not publicly addressed the situation.
One person stated, “Accept our shenseea apologies.” Another explained, “Kenya is an active crime scene at the moment. Give us time we deal with our issues first. I don’t even know how people felt the need to be entertained at the moment. Once we oust the current regime from power, you can consider revisiting. For now, sorry!”
Someone else commented, “Ruto hired his goons to teargas you babegal. We are not like that.”
