A robbery at an Apple store did not go as planned when a man alleged to be a customer fought off the bandits. The attempted robbery took place on May 27 in Ecuador and was caught on a security camera.
The robbery unfolded at Calle 13 and Avenue 12 shortly after 3 p.m. when a thief, wearing a black and white cap and white shirt, entered the Apple Store. According to KrudPlug, their attempt to rob the store was thwarted by a customer.
In the video, the thief’s accomplice, dressed in a white cap and black attire, is already waiting inside and apparently pretends to speak on his phone.
The customer, who was seemingly holding down the fort until the worker returned, became suspicious when he saw the man, who entered his store, walk right by him and go into another section of the store while reaching for his waist.
The customer moves from around the counter to either follow or confront him when the accomplice stops him, and the pair engage in a fight. Moments later, the other thief is seen with a firearm while being chased out of the rare room he had entered. The man chasing him, presumably the person in charge, was holding an unidentified object as if he would stab him with it.
The customer went from fighting the one thief to wrestling the other to seize the gun. Amid the fight, during which both the store clerk and the customer fought the assailants, the thieves repeatedly tried to escape, but the door remained locked despite pulling at the handle. The footage only captures one suspect fleeing the store.
The thief, clearly in a state of panic, smashes the glass door and jumps out, leaving his accomplice behind. However, KrudPlug reported that both suspects managed to flee the scene after being pummelled. The suspects sustained injuries during the fight, but it is unclear if the store’s defenders also suffered any injuries.
