Jamie Warlock, who is said to be Dancehall artiste Iwaata’s cousin, was killed over the weekend. Jamie is known by many as a TikToker and the ex-boyfriend of popular Jamaican TikToker Ivany Wright. Jamie was gunned down at a river, which was later confirmed to be St Toolies River near the border of Manchester and Clarendon.
Police reported that Jamie, born Lavar Malcolm, was killed at the location on Sunday afternoon. The 26-year-old who lives in Kintyre, St Andrew, was visiting a river where a group of people had gathered. He was approached by a gunman around 1 p.m. The gunman ordered him to hand over his belongings but he refused, leading him to get shot, accroding to the report.
The victim ustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body after reportedly being chased by the assailant. Police believes that the incident is connected to ongoing conflict in the area of Papine. at the scene, investigtaors discovered five Blaze Luger 9mm spent casings. The area is usually peaceful, and the sudden violence left residents concerned, according to the Jamaica Observer.
Following the news of the murder, Ivany shared some troubling details during a live stream, indicating that her ex-boyfriend feared for his life. Ivany said that not long ago, Jamie had reached out to her for help, saying that fingers were pointing at him for a murder that was committed in his community, and he was in danger. Ivany also shared that he had asked her for money to relocate. She said when he contacted her, he was out with her son, prompting her to promise to contact him later.
However, she did not respond to him in a timely fashion, and he continued to cry out for help in messages, urging her to get back to him quickly. However, he eventually cut ties with her after sending her a long message expressing his disappointment that she had not contacted him. Ivany explained that she did not see the messages until later. By then, he had blocked her on all social media platforms.
Ivany felt deeply hurt by the messages, knowing that she failed to reach out to him in time, and broke into tears during her live stream. According to Ivany, her relationship with Jamie lasted for three years, and they remained good friends after the relationship ended.
Other TikTok users who were discussing his death on a live stream noted that he was warned by associates not to go to the river and to keep a low profile. They claim that at least one friend accompanied him. It is also alleged that he wanted to leave the country because he knew he was in danger.
