TikToker Jakes was released from police custody on Thursday following online speculation surrounding his arrest. The confusion began after allegations surfaced that his former partner, Rosealee, had made a false report claiming that he was in possession of an illegal firearm.
Amid the speculation, a voice note was in circulation TikTok, in which a woman, believed to be Rosealee, could be heard saying she would tell police that Jakes hid a gun in a gully. Another TikToker, known as Chevy, publicly shared the audio, sparking long-standing speculation among fans about a close, possibly romantic connection between the two. According to reports, Jakes initially sent the recording to Chevy in private after receiving it from someone else, but it leaked without his consent.
The speculation that Rosealee caused Jakes’ arrest led to backlash, as many of Jakes’ supporters believed she was attempting to tarnish his reputation. However, Jakes later addressed the matter in a live stream, clarifying the actual events.
According to him, the police were conducting an early morning operation in Seaview Gardens that began around 5:00 a.m. During the operation, officers searched several residents, including Jakes, before detaining multiple individuals for standard checks. It appears that the authorities were verifying whether anyone had a criminal record or an active warrant. Notably, the Jamaica Constabulary Force executed multiple operations in several areas on Thursday morning.
“First dem search mi enuh and tell mi and mi gee fi walk enuh…a nuh me dem come fah,” Jakes said during the live. “Dem seh dem a run operation and just tek up a wull heap a people…we were processed and released.”
After the checks were completed, Jakes confirmed that he was released without charge and returned home safely. He reassured his followers that although the experience was time-consuming and stressful, he was doing fine.
