There was a moment of relief on TikTok after it was confirmed that TikTokers Rosealee and Jakes’ children were released from the Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA). However, the spotlight quickly brought their living conditions to the forefront, sparking another public controversy.
According to social media, the children were placed in the custody of their godmother. They have been staying with the godmother for several days, with Jakes assisting in their care. However, it was later revealed that the children were lacking basic necessities such as clothing.
TikTok viewers overheard claims that the couple’s son did not have suitable underwear to wear to school, a detail that came to light during one of Jakes’ own live broadcasts while the children were getting ready. In response, many viewers began criticising both parents and called out Rosealee for not ensuring her children’s needs were met.
In an emotional live stream, Rosealee claimed she had been the sole provider for her children for several years and that Jakes needed to start fulfilling his responsibilities. According to her, she had spent approximately $40,000 on Clarks shoes for her son and daughter and another $80,000 on their book list expenses. She also said she purchased their uniforms, school bags, and underwear.
During the broadcast, Rosealee mentioned that some of the children’s undergarments were unclean. She sent a message to Jakes, instructing him to collect them for washing so the children could have them for school.
She explained that her mother usually handled the laundry but had been unable to do so due to an injury allegedly caused by a friend of Jakes’ mother.
Rosealee also said she recently injured her foot and was unable to wash or handle household tasks. The heated live stream also featured Rosealee arguing with her mother over unwashed clothes despite receiving payment, but she quickly muted the live stream.
Rosealee insisted that Jakes should now provide the money needed for their children’s upkeep, stating that she refused to continue purchasing their necessities. She labelled him an “unfit father”, saying that he was failing because he had not stepped up despite earning through TikTok as well.
The latest conflict reportedly followed backlash over Rosealee sending expensive TikTok gifts to Akeem, a man she is said to have a romantic interest in. Some viewers defended her, saying the criticism was unfair, while others accused both parents of prioritising online attention over their children’s well-being.
