Las Vegas is one of the most visited destinations in the world. Tourists from across the globe visit Las Vegas to try their luck at the casinos, enjoy world-class entertainment, and indulge in luxury. Although this destination is known for its glitz, glamour, and extravagant resorts, several hotels in Sin City have been strongly criticised for being unhygienic. These hotels were dubbed the “dirtiest hotels in Las Vegas” by a data analyst at BitcoinCasinos in 2023.
The data analyst comprised 500,000 Tripadvisor reviews from travellers who visited hotels in Las Vegas. The hotels were ranked based on the percentage of reviews that mention keywords associated with uncleanliness, such as “dirty,” “unclean,” “filthy,” “disgusting,” and “bed bugs.” Today, we are looking at the top three “dirtiest, hottest in Las Vegas” that you may want to avoid on your next trip to Sin City.
1. OYO Hotel & Casino: The Dirtiest Hotel in Vegas
The hotel that unfortunately topped the list is the OYO Hotel & Casino. This hotel offers budget-friendly accommodations, as low as $30 per night, and is located near the Strip. While the low room prices may be enticing, the hotel had the poorest score when it comes to cleanliness, earning it the top spot on the list. The analysis showed that 28% of Tripadvisor reviews described the accommodations as“dirty,” “filthy,” or “unclean.”
Additionally, many visitors had awful experiences with bugs and cockroaches. They also complained about the hotel having stained carpets and uncleaned bathrooms. Among the dissatisfied comments was also one particular shocking comment from a disgruntled guest who found a used towel in their bathroom. The guest also complained about the air conditioning unit being noisy and a tub that was “old and nasty.”
Another frustrated visitor expressed that they had to clean the hotel bathroom themselves because it was very filthy, with dust and dirt throughout the room. The comments continued to list broken elevators and a lack of basic amenities.
2. Excalibur Hotel & Casino: Historic but Dirty
Excalibur Hotel & Casino is a well-known resort in Las Vegas, but it is also on the list of the “dirtiest hotels in Las Vegas.” This hotel attracts tourists with its famous castle-themed exterior and mediaeval-inspired décor. However, the historic hotel has been criticised by visitors for cleanliness issues. 27.2% of reviews of the comments posted about Excalibur were from unsatisfied visitors who complained about cleanliness, bugs, and the general lack of upkeep.
Visitors highlighted that the hotel had an outdated interior, which hadn’t been modernised in years. One disappointed customer shared that the body wash dispenser in their room was empty, and a razor blade was found between toiletries. Another visitor also highlighted that the staff was not attentive to details because their room was not properly cleaned when they arrived.
3. Luxor Hotel & Casino: Creepy Crawlies and Tired Interiors
Luxor Hotel & Casino has also been ranked on the list of the “dirtiest hotels in Las Vegas.” This hotel is well-known for its distinctive pyramid-shaped architecture and its bud-friendly rooms that go as low as $70 per night. However, the hotel had many dissatisfied customers complaining about its cleanliness. 26.9% of Tripadvisor reviews for Luxor mention issues with uncleanliness, including reports of creepy crawlies and a general lack of maintenance in the rooms.
Among the complaints, a visitor described their stay as “disappointing in so many ways.” Two of the issues that were listed by the visitor are dirty bedsheets that appeared to be unwashed and dusty vents. A visitor also noted that a piece of furniture in their room was being supported by tape. Some guests also reported that the showers were completely filthy, citing issues with there being scum on the walls and the door. As if that wasn’t enough, other guests had unpleasant experiences with bugs in their rooms, including baby cockroaches.
