Singer D4vd has become the focus of an LAPD homicide investigation following the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, whose body was discovered inside a Tesla registered to him. Detectives executed a search warrant at a Hollywood Hills home late Wednesday, where the artist appeared to be living. The residence is rented by his manager, Josh Marshall.
Law enforcement sources confirm investigators spent more than 12 hours combing through the property. Members of the LAPD’s Scientific Investigation Division used luminol to search for traces of blood on floors, surfaces, and even inside drains. Evidence bags and a computer were removed from the home before the search concluded. It is not yet clear whether forensic testing revealed the presence of blood.
Celeste’s body was identified after her mother raised alarms with police, telling detectives her daughter had a boyfriend named David and pointing out that Celeste had a “shhh…” tattoo on her finger. D4vd has a matching tattoo on his own right index finger. TMZ has also published photos showing the singer in Lake Elsinore, only a short walk from Celeste’s family home.
D4vd’s apparent connection to the teen has caused much speculation, but the LAPD has not named a suspect or person of interest. The police have, however, provided a judge with enough solid points for them to secure a search warrant, which requires probable cause.
After the singer made headlines for being linked to the deceased, a science teacher who previously taught Celeste was filmed in a classroom recalling her absence from classes and sharing with current students that she had once gone missing after meeting D4vd online, only to be returned home. According to him, she disappeared again in May 2024. He described sharing her story as a cautionary warning about the dangers of social media.
After the investigation intensified with the singer being linked to the teen, all musical promotions with him have been halted by Interscope Records, along with parent company UMG, Sony Music Publishing, and talent agency Wasserman. His deluxe album, Withered, was set for release this week, but its rollout has been halted out of respect for the seriousness of the investigation. One of his concerts, scheduled in Seattle, was cancelled after the victim was confirmed to be Celeste.
Fans have since connected the timing of D4vd’s last Instagram post, promoting the deluxe edition of his album on Celeste’s birthday, September 7. Despite the mounting attention, D4vd has not issued a public statement addressing the case.
